‘A Day in the Life of a Knight’ proved to be a hugely successful test piece for the band as we took the top spot in the First Section at the Welsh Regional Championships, held in Swansea’s glorious Brangwyn Hall on Saturday, 18 March.
Huge congratulations to Tianna Thomas, who picked up the Best Instrumentalist award after a brilliant horn solo and performance. Our boss, Gareth Ritter – who also picked up the Best Musical Director prize – has once again led the band to a win at the Regionals and another return to Cheltenham in September for the National Finals!
A special mention to Robin Hackett – not only did he play trombone with us on the day, but he also conducted Newport, who also qualified for the National Finals.
Every player and supporter in our organisation has played their part and worked incredibly hard these last few weeks, and here’s a huge thanks to all our families, who feel the strain too – it’s massively appreciated and this time has truly paid off. We smashed it!
