Private 1:1 Coaching

£300

per day / £180 per half day

This can be particularly useful to sailors who feel like they will benefit from some intense coaching to help them overcome a hurdle in their sailing that they feel is holding them back when racing, or just for general feedback and development. Any session can be bespoke, to focus on what is important to you and what you feel might be most helpful in improving your racing, such as working on rig set up, control settings, and boat handling.

1:1 sessions provide an opportunity to really hone in on ways to improve boat set up and sailing technique without the pressure of other boats around, and I will

Private Small Group Coaching

£300

per day

Group coaching sessions are great for an environment that allows sailors to try different setups and techniques while providing an opportunity to compare your sailing to others. The session can include simulated race scenarios to work on speed both upwind and downwind while in close quarters with other boats.

These sessions are private so you can club together with people that want to work on the same skills, and I can structure the session accordingly. I would suggest 2-10 boats to ensure that everyone gets good quality feedback and can make the most of the session.

I can be available to travel to your club or can arrange for a session at Northampton SC.

Open Group Coaching

£40

per person

I routinely run Open Group coaching in the Solo class, at Northampton SC and at other clubs prior to events. I run these with up to 12 boats to ensure that everyone gets an opportunity to engage and receive useful feedback. These sessions typically focus on 1-2 aspects of racing. Previously, I have run sessions covering boat speed, tacking and gybing, and race starts.

These sessions normally follow a similar structure but can depend on venue and weather scenarios. The sessions normally run as follows:

  • 10-11 - Briefing
  • 11-11:30 - Get changed and head out on the water
  • 11:30- 2:30 - Sailing session
  • 2:30-3 - Come ashore, de-rig and get changed
  • 3-4 - Debrief

To see the sessions I have coming up, take a look at Upcoming Events.

I am open to conducting these sessions for other classes as well, so please get in touch if there is a particular class you would like to see this for.

Event Coaching

£15

per day

Event coaching can be useful for sailors that feel like they struggle to pull good sailing habits and techniques together at bigger events. This service will include a private briefing session to help prepare for the day’s racing, and a private debrief afterwards to identify what went well and what to work on for next time.

I will also be able to help with venue specific guidance as each venue has its different quirks. Having sailed at most of the clubs in the UK that hold major events, I feel I have a good understanding of different venues, and I am also well equipped to apply my knowledge to venues that I have not raced at before.

This will be available for up to six sailors per day.

Always Included

Pre-Session Planning

Every session is planned in advance around the sailors, venue, class and aims of the day, so time on the water is focused and productive.

Clear Briefing Before Sailing

A structured briefing helps set the focus for the session, explain the key areas being worked on, and make sure everyone knows what to expect before heading out.

Bespoke Coaching Focus

Sessions can be tailored around the areas that matter most to you, including boat speed, rig setup, control settings, boat handling, tacking, gybing, starts and race preparation.

On-Water Feedback

Coaching is delivered while you sail, with practical feedback from the RIB to help you make changes, test techniques and build better habits in real time.

Racing-Focused Development

Training is built around improving performance on the race course, including upwind and downwind speed, close-quarters sailing, starts, manoeuvres and simulated race scenarios.

Post-Session Debrief

Each session includes a debrief to review what went well, identify what needs work, and give sailors clear takeaways for continued improvement.
